Fortrose and Rosemarkie Community Council

St Boniface Fair

The St Boniface Fair made a welcome return (after a pandemic hiatus) to Cathedral Square in Fortrose on Saturday afternoon, 5th August 2023.

The Fair is a re-enactment of the 18th Century Burgh Fair marking the anniversary of the death of St Boniface. Today it continues as a village festival, selling locally-grown vegetables and fruits; craft goods of pottery, woodwork and jewellery; hand-made fabrics; plants and garden produce; home baking, tablet and breads - with refreshments provided by a local church.

It was well-supported by residents and summer visitors alike.  More than £700 was raised for community projects, so thank you to all who took part.  We hope to be back, even bigger and better, in 2024.

As is the custom, stall-holders and other participants were asked to dress in the costume of the 18th Century - as you can see!
